I have a massive K&N I might fit to the disco. I'll let you know results. It came of a V6 so should be ok.

If you do a search on here this topic was covered in depth not long ago and in short the answer to your question is NO and keep the cash in your pocket :)

yeah just had a look at that! basically a no then.

am i gonna buy myself a nice shiny stainless backbox :D

I loved the sound my 3.2 V6 made with this cone on. I'll give it a go to see what it acts like with it.

On my Disco it has a K&N panel filter, IMO the better solution as it never needs replacing and retains all the cold air features and allows a possible better flow of air, plus there not that expensive if you plan on keeping it a while.

I found that no better noise was created when I put a spare K&N cone on mine as it has an air flow meter suppressing the noise :(

Stay away from K&N's.Covered on here plenty of times....basically will clog up your MAF. I went for a Janspeed cat back stainless exhaust on my 4.6. Sounds very nice but not too loud on motorway runs etc.

yeah thats what i want, just a nice rumble. my boy racer days are over lol

as said, i had probs with the K&N, stuck the normal back and no more probs.

and yes, the Janspeed is great! a much better investment :D:D:D

A standard filter is as good as it gets. Everything else a waste of money. Some people will believe any advertising **** they read. Get some magnets for the fuel lines and a cyclone for the induction pipe. If you really want to waste your cash.

na just like the way they sound
i had one on my 4.6 couple of years ago and within 2 hours i dicided that the induction kit sounded like some boyracer with a 1.6 under the bonnet
in the end i had standerd airbox with a decat and removed the middle box and that sounded nice
quiet barbble at low rpm but under full throtle it sounded like a tvr
if your on lpg its legal too:D

Sorry not legal. If the vehicle can be run on petrol it MUST have a cat. If it was fitted with a cat as standard it MUST have one fitted.

+1 especially for the MOT.

like the idea of the centre box gone. i was toying with that idea.

Where did you get the janspeed from? And how much?

I got my Janspeed from Roadrunner (off the bay) approx £450. The quality is good & design gives a less restricted flow. Also doesn't look too 'aftermarket' if you do a good job of cutting around the rear bumper valance.
I'm toying with sports cats on mine..SS do them but fairly pricey for the 100 cell versions, i really want to hear what they sound like first though.
