Hi All

I have just got back from looking at a Freelander and I really like it. My question is, are Freelanders as bad as the press/internet makes out they are? The one I am looking at is a 2002/52 TD4 GS 5 Door with 51K miles on it.

Any advice/opinions greatly received!

Thanks guys

Rog

TD4 is a great vehicle! If its got a service history, all the better. Buying any used car is a gamble and TD4 is no exception. VCU can be a problem - lots on LZ about this subject. Take it for a test drive and find a place to reverse on tight lock - it should run free round and round on tick over quite freely. If not then start to be cautious. Also after a decent run, get under car and put your hand on VCU - it should be warm. If stone cold, then again it could be seized. Private sale - no warranty or what?
Welcome to the maddest but best forum on the web!

Thanks for the info Miles. The TD4 has a full history and I am buying it from a dealer with a warranty. The dealer described it as showroom condition and it really is. I couldn't find a mark on it or fault it in any way.

I put down a deposit on it and pick it up on Sunday. Can't wait - I've even started shopping for accessories already!!

Cheers

Don't worry, I think everyone gets the same "desease" once the order for their car was signed.....;) :D :D :D
