hi everyone , i was wondering if anyone uses a diesel fuel additive to help keep the injectors clean ?
recently, i posted a problem with my 2001 td4 ( 70k miles ) having really wobbly tickover problems,,,,, anyways after checking everything i possibly could and with the help from others on here , i eventuall traced it to a bad injector,,,,,,,, when i pulled off the lead to no 2 injector , it made no difference at tickover speed.( effectivly running on 3 cylnders and smoking a lot)
my daily journeys are 5 mile runs , and i think this is contributing to the problem, , i removed the exhaust and the cat was looking 50% chocked with soot ,so i cut the cat material out , this has certainly allowed the engine to breathe more freely,
i then added a bottle of injector cleaner to a full tank of fuel and ran it almost empty taking it for several long runs down the motorway, now on the 2nd tank of fuel this has improved the tickover and the engine is running great,
1, has anyone had this problem when doing short journeys
2, dose anyone use a diesel additive on a regular basis
3, which additive is recommended for regulary use
( injectors are £190.00 each )and not the easiest things to remove
this may be of some help to someone
