Hello all, just thought I would share my experience with shielder.

I ordered my chassis and bulkhead from shielder on September 10th, and was told there would be a 5/6 week wait.
Week 6 after hearing nothing from them I telephoned to be told they had a breakdown of a machine and would need a further 2weeks to complete my order.
2weeks later after hearing nothing I called again to be told they needed another week. And so in
On week 9 I rang and told shielder that I needed my chassis by Friday or else and was told they would ring me back later that day or the next
No call back.

This continued until last week (week 11) when I rang and told them I wanted a full refund.
I was told that their accounts person was not in until Friday and I would get my refund then.

Well guess what no refund. And they are not answering my calls or emails anymore...

Refund cheque still in the post?
As you're in England & the company is in Northern Ireland I suggest you need to take proper professional legal advice before starting legal action.
Normal course would be a letter before action & followed up by a money claim which can be done online unfortunately but NI & Scotland aren't included in its scope.
NI does have its own money claim system but you'd need to see if it would be suitable in your case.

They took my account information and said they would pay into my account, but now ignore my calls and email..
I know they can because they over charged me by £100 when I ordered the chassis and bulkhead and refunded the £100 on the next friday.

What's going on with Shielder.?
I paid 50% deposit on a new Galv bulkhead about 3 months ago and not heard anything from them since.
I haven't tried to contact them yet, as I'm in no rush for the bulkhead.

Should I be looking to get Mastercard to sort it, before it goes T*ts up and I'm too late to get my money back?
or are they just being a bit crap and slow?
I'm in no rush, my bulkhead is fine, but I was tempted to get a brand new Galv one while it was on offer, ready for the future.

Maybe they've just taken too many orders and they're struggling to keep up?

I have no idea what their problems are. but when they have £3210 of my money and say 6 weeks and I had nothing on week 11 and still being given the run around and my project delayed by weeks, I decided I had had enuf.

Fair one mate.
Especially if you are actually needing it and losing time waiting.

It's a bit sh1t when companies mess you about like that.
I'm sure most of us would be happy if a company was straight with us and said something like "sorry, we can't deliver on time because of xyz, but here is a little discount for your patience and understanding"

Absolutely, but the only contact I got was when I rang them and never even sorry, just excuse after excuse.

From what I can gather you have 120days to claim your money back from the day you expected delivery or to collect.
I only just made it...

You paid by debit card & you've spoken to your bank but we don't know what they've said so this might be of interest:

Cheers Ratae,

I paid 50% deposit on credit card, so I'm protected by section 75.
It seems that it is actually the card provider that is jointly responsible with the retailer, so HSBC - not Mastercard, for example.
If the card is issued by a bank in England or Wales then English law is applicable, I believe. If it's a Scottish bank, then Scottish law applies.
Regardless if the company you've paid is abroad.
"There isn't a time limit for making a claim under Section 75, however the statute of limitations in the UK is six years (five in Scotland)
so this is the deadline you have to work to if you were to pursue a Section 75 claim through the courts."

BEWARE
Apparently, if you pay through a third party like paypal or amazon, you don't get the section 75 protection.!

That's put me right off using paypal.

Anyway, as for Shielder - I'm in no rush to get the bulkhead, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and wait to see when they contact me.

I posted about this a few months back. Same thing happened to me. No chassis and little contact. Sick of their lies, rang the bank. Refunded within 2 working days.

A word of advice to all, AVOID SHIELDER CHASSIS AT ALL COST!

Good luck to you, but I doubt very much if you will see anything from them.

S75 makes the credit card provider jointly liable so it will be them refunding the full amount - not just what was paid on the card - in exmed wayne's case if he has to go that route.

Stick Shielder Chassis into the search bar and you’ll find plenty of bad feedback on here.... not much good feedback...
