So the new battery is in, there was a tiny spark in connection so there’s some current draw.

Predictably the key is now not synced to the car, is this where I have to do the funky key turning dance with the key in the lock to re-sync it ?
Or is there a simpler way ?

Look in the technical archive, I think MOZZ did a resync guide. One way is key in the lock, turn to lock & hold, press lock button for 5 seconds, then turn to unlock hold and press the unlock button for 5 seconds. Might have to reverse the order. works on mine but not on all cars.
If you have diagnostics, once you have resynced the FOB, turn off the EKA & alarm, it saves a lot of grief.
 
To resynce doesnt take long, not the same as EKA
Just turn to lock, ppress lock then turn to unlock and press unlock
Job done
 
Ok, so I can’t seem to sync the bugger…

I can now get into the car without the alarm thinking I’m a burglar but I can’t unlock the other doors nor start the engine.

the key fob flashes encouragingly but doesn’t seem to sync -I wonder if it’s because I have the RF receiver aerial (until my MK3 box arrives) disconnected and its just out of range or if I’m doing something silly.

I tried the EKA - no dice, every time I turn the key the car peeps like I’ve locked it with the sunroof open. Is that right ?

I also tried to disable the immobiliser from nanocom by writing to the BECM but the engine is still showing as disabled.

I’m stopping tonight lest the beeping and swearing upset the neighbours.

any help / insight most welcome !

Balls… that didn’t work
I wonder what I’m doing wrong

Put key in lock with car unlocked. Press unlock, turn to unlock. Press lock, turn to lock. Repeat as required. If you have unplugged the RF receiver you'll have to keep pulling the key to hold it up to the rear quarterlight.

Have you tried pressing and keep pressing the button inserting into door lock and turn to lock for 5secs, back to centre remove key release button then do same for unlocking

I have often found that one or the other of mine will fail to work after a battery disconnect.
Don't ask me why this might be, because it makes no real sense, but I swear to you that it does happen.
What puts the key back in synch for me (when all else fails) is to connect the Nanocom and "CLEAR RF MEMORY".
The rolling codes get so far adrift they have no chance of being right. It seems that clearing RF memory of all previously seen and remembered codes does the trick. :)

I’ve just the one key but will try that trick !

hopefully the MK 3 receiver will arrive today (and be genuine !)

Clear RF memory fixed that issue for me but not for another member on here, although his BECM may have been tampered with.
 
Looks like I got lucky with the receiver…

will get it fitted tomorrow.

Arghhhhh

this is driving me nuts.

Ok, so I went to change the RF receiver but decided to check the one already fitted and, what do you know ! It’s a green MkIII.
So I reconnected then tried to sync the key.

nada

went into Nani on, tried to reset the RF codes but keep getting the message that it’s received a valid code.

noticed some of the other BECM settings are gash too, so corrected them, hit ‘write to memory’ and it all
Looked good.

took the key out, put it back in -back to nonsense -so it doesn’t look like the BECM is holding data properly (does it require a CMOS battery ?)

I tried disabling the Immobiliser and the email but still can’t use the key to lock and the engine still says ‘disabled’

Curiously it also keeps forgetting the windows / sunroof settings. Even if I. Set them. When I pull out the key, it forgets.

it has all the hallmarks of a backup / motherboard matters gone wrong... but I’d love to hear what you guys think... I’m almost on the cusp of calling the RAC :(
