Recovered a Nissan Patrol out of a deep mud hole, was getting dragged in until I wrapped my tow rope round a tree to hold me back, think I now have a 105" wheelbase Discovery now :)

Took the Disco on it's first ever off road outing after the rebuild to a play day in Holland, all going well until I got wedged between 2 trees and had to winch myself backwards with the rope under the truck to get myself free

Went to Off road Budel and found out that 235/85 r16 tyres are no match for J**p Wranglers on 35" and 37" tyres

Many years ago I was on a pay and play site in my diahatsu powered S3 109 and went a bit off piste by accident. Trying to find my way back we went up a steep climb which, from the drivers seat, looked like it could be a cliff edge as I neared the top . So foot hard on the brake I stopped and got the Doris to go check what was on the other side.
She had just got 2 feet on the ground, door wide open, when the brake master cylinder failed and the Landy shot back, the door bowled her over into the sticky clay face first but luckily the Landy rolled to safety undamaged apart from a bent door check strap which I made her pay for.

Second occasion, same 109 but a different pay and play site .
Steep short climb which needed a fair bit of speed to get up, the top of this bank had a large tree which had grown almost in a perfect 3/4 arch which you had no choice but to go under/through.
From my driver's seat I watched a Suzuki and a fourtrack go up and under the tree arch no problem then a S3 88 went up and juusst cleared the arch with his roof.
So if he can clear it so can I?
Flat out I proper went for it only to come to a rather loud abrupt stop as I went under the arch.
Forgot about my solid steel full length roof rack.
Roof rack got pushed back about 2 feet and down , gutters wrecked, passenger door top wrecked , rear ladder bent like a banana.
Lots of pointing and laughing.

You made me look up "pay and play" and I just looked and paynplay.co.uk. Somebody should do something like this for trails and sites in Canada. It is badly needed.
