hi ther ive got a 92 200 disco/rotbox the alpine windows a leaking as per usual the rubbers are all split and im always worried about putting a branch or something through them what sort of a job would it be to loos them all together by welding some steel in the holes its the curve of the roof thats putting me off slightl i know my car looks ruff i dont think its got a straight panel on it but im workin on that bit so didnt really want to make it worse what would you guys do has any one else welded them up any pics if poss cheers andy

Get some 1.2mm sheet cut to size, nice rounded corners there's a good chap, tack along the bottom edge and bend it over the roof profile, bit of light mallet action might be required to define the curve properly, then tack along the top, then the sides etc.

Careful when seam welding the body, amazing how much it will distort, so weld it in sections.

Or just rivet the sheet in?

If it's a ****box I don't know why you're even asking the question!!!

thanks for your help its not quite as bad as it was i bought all 5 doors and two wings on flea bay for £100 plus its got a lot of the offroad toys on it so ive to to keep it while other wise the missus might castrate me lol its had all the usual bits done boot floor etc so i just thought removing the stupid alpines would save me doing it all again in a couple of years never know i might even attack it with some gloss and a roller

Avoid using a roller mate, I found I got lots of bubbles in the paint when I tried a small area, so I brush painted mine.
