So I'm looking to do the mod to the boost compensator in the fuel pump. I'm new to turbo tuning as my other cars are supercharged. So I'm feeling particularly noobish!
It all seems to be a bit off. And I could do with getting it back to stock as the previous owner looked to have tampered a touch. Just need to get a starting point. I've gotten it running nicely. But it's off boat performance is horrendous and it's not that great on boost. A lot better than It was. Exhaust temp is well within working limits. The star wheel is Where there's about 5mm of clearance between the cap and the pump body when the screws are removed. And I set the cone so the big lobe and cutout is facing the front and the. Slowly wound it back until the smoke went to an acceptable level. But that level is achieved about 15degrees from the lobe facing the back of the car. Is that normal? Most folks say theirs is way richer at the sweet spot.
I've got a new standard intercooler and everything is spotless inside as I've just cleaned it all out manually. All the air system was lagged in carbon! I removed the EGR totally.
Haynes manual was particularly useless on this topic lol. I understand what it all does but all the guides are based on the premise of the pump being at its stock position. Which I'm not sure mine is.
Many thanks in advance
