hi guys and gals been giving my disco 300tdi auto diy services, while she went in for mot asked how much would you charge for full service he said all the filters the oil, brake check and adjust and drain diff oil and replace with new oil not fully sythetic £200 is that good you recon ,ps she failed brake pipes on all 4 corners buggered again just under £200 does everything cost £200 only had her 11 months shes great:D

If you have been home servicing then you know how much all the filters/oil costs and doing it yourself you know how long this will take so from all that information you can work out how much there charging for labour and decide for yourself if it's a good deal, i.e is your time worth more than there charging to do it for you. Also will they grease all the grease points and check the oil or grease in the swivel pins and steering box. The bit about adjusting the brakes confuses me as there discks all round so appart from cleaning away any lip on the brake discs and pads there's no adjustment they can make. They could adjust the handbrake I suppose. I've also got 300 Auto and home service, i'm away from home a lot so it can be a pain. but i grudge paying someone to do something I can do myself. but I enjoy having the peice of mind that it's been done thourghley and also it gives you a level understanding of how things are wearing and when you will have to replace them that you wont get from the garage when they give the car part. Easier to buget for big repairs when you know for a while there coming up.

Just my thoughts!

your thoughts spot on mate ,i know how much filters are and oil i put fully synthetic inwas tempted with the diff job, shes the easiest car ive ever serviced i could do pads and discs and servicing but diffs and greasing on a budget so have to get tools bit at a time if that makes sense, having to put mot on credit card which i really dont like to use like i say havent had her a year yet so when i get confident and have the tools will do more and more
