We've had our mid-80s, 200-TDI-re-engined, Ninety a bit over a year. She doesn't do huge miles, no more than a thousand or so a year. Spends most of her time in the garage on a trickle charger.

Just wondering what people would recommend for a regular (let's say annual) home service schedule? She goes into the local 4x4 place for MOT and heavier stuff, so I'm more thinking of the basics like fluid changes, bits to grease, any bits on a 200 TDI that need regular checking etc.
 
After a thousand miles ... on roads .... nah, should do 4 or 5 years before it needs an oil and filter change.
Probably change the air filter if it's been a bit dusty, maybe grease the UJ's.
New fuel filter every 5 years or so wouldn't go amiss either.

Mainly it will need the rusty bits treating .... something like Kurust will do.
 
I would be doing oil, fuel and air filter every year along with an oil change. I know the service interval is 6k but guessing your low annual mileage is lots of short trips rather than a couple of long motorway journeys so things wont get fully up to temperature. Although the engine will go on forever (mine has 375k on it) it does like to be looked after.

I would also throw a bottle of injector cleaner into the tank at least every year preferable before you are planning on doing a longer trip.

I would grease the prop shaft uj, steering ball joints, and a-frame ball joint every 6 months.

Most of your service schedule will be done on time rather than mileage, so just be aware of the timing intervals for some of the larger things (from memory):
gearbox/transfer box oil - two years
diff oils - years years
brake fluid - three years
Timing belt - six years

Yes. Anything that doesn't run a lot of hours, I go on times, and ignore mileage completely.
 
Every year or two wont hurt at all, parts are so cheap mad not to.
Plus gives you chance to have a poke around whilst you are under there.
Used to do mine annually, but mileage now so low its bi annual.
I have found its the brakes that give issues with not being used, mainly as mine are stored outside, so wheels off and prise the pistons back a few mms and work the pedal, repeat on all pistons at all wheel stations.
 
As already said that engine and transmission LOVES oil changes regardless of milage. I do mine yearly as i don't do many miles. When I was using it daily I changed all oils and filters twice yearly. It's a cheap way to keep it running
