I bought my 58 Freelander 2 td4s 8 moths ago. It was last serviced by a Landrover dealer mid April last year. Having it serviced soon by an indie. Service indicator light has not appeared. I would have thought the dealer should have reset it from April last year, for it to come on 12 months later? Could it be the fact that the car was reg in Sept & that the service light would come on yearly in Sept?
As I had the same issue with my Astra. Dealers couldn't be bothered to reset service date to a changed month. Ended up changing it myself.
Thanks.

I think the cars flags a service, when it wants to :)

I'm not so sure about the earlier FL2, but the later ones use an oil wear indicator. This means if the engine doesn't do much work, then the oil degrades slower and its longer between service flags on the ipk.

The service scheduling remains the same though. 12months or 15k miles.

If you drive it heavy and the oil gets crappy, it recommends a service earlier.

IIRC :)

Vissie,
It's just been changed at 12 months interval, covered 9k. Without the service light appearing. Shall just have to see how it goes then.
Also just past it's MOT. Even though it's having a replacement front drivers side wheel bearing next week. Have to replace the whole hub, having it done at same indie. No play on the wheel, as I jacked the car up & tested it, prior to the MOT. Just noise when driving over 30 & especially when turning left.
My first FL2, not been without faults over the last 8 months, but sticking with it.
Thanks for the info.

I would consider the FL2 the most reliable of LR. They are decent cars, but just like any LR, they have quirks.

Vissie,
Had 5 faults in 6 months of ownership. Last one being the wheel bearing. Others, intermittent fault with drivers side elec window. Leaky rear brake light cluster. Took it off, resealed it, now good. Squeaky/stiff gear stick operation. Oiled linkage. Clogged fuel filter, replaced it.
Also just bought myself a high lift trolley jack, came in useful. As my other trolley jack, didn’t lift high enough:lol:
My 6 months free Land Rover select used warranty was rubbish. Covered none of the above items.
I'm hoping that's it for a while now. We both like it. Me, especially in the snow:)
