Firstly, both the disco 1 and the 1999MY disco 2 were for sale in 1998, so which vehicle is it?. The D1 doesn't have a service light, I have a clue if the D2 has one, but I doubt it.Tried to google how to reset service light on 1998 Disco but just got info for Newer models.
Is there an easy way to do it, or does it need fancy computer plug in thingy's ??
Its a 300Tdi Mate R Reg. At least I think its a Service light or am I wrong ?? right hand corner, looks like spanner in car flashing.F

Thanks the one on the left has gone off since Ive serviced it, but the one on the right engine immobiliser is still on, flashes all the time. should it be on like this ??Ok, the lamp on the right shows the engine immobiliser is active and on the left is the transmission oil temperature indicating the oil temp is high, the lamp should extinguish when the temp drops.
Only because the immobiliser has auto reset because of a delay in starting the engine, while illuminated the engine won’t start, try placing the fob near the ignition switch, or pressing the unlock button, either way will extinguish the lamp... or should. Thanks the one on the left has gone off since Ive serviced it, but the one on the right engine immobiliser is still on, flashes all the time. should it be on like this ??
Thanks Will give that a go. That was going to be my next Question. Central Locking does not work at all either from Fob or Key, The key only locks one door at a time,,Only because the immobiliser has auto reset because of a delay in starting the engine, while illuminated the engine won’t start, try placing the fob near the ignition switch, or pressing the unlock button, either way will extinguish the lamp... or should.
Was thinking that myself, The lad didn't mention it, should of asked.I think you'll find its been disabled due to problems in the past...
The easy option is to remove the bulb, unless u understand what modifications have been done to the security systemWas thinking that myself, The lad didn't mention it, should of asked.
It has some kind of fuel cut off switch or something like that anyway to start. needs button pressed to start and again to stop, the key just turns it over, but whatever it is it works perfect, starts first time everytime. Just that light flashing all the time is Bugging me suppose I will get used to it.
Where will I find the ECU plug ?The easy option is to remove the bulb, unless u understand what modifications have been done to the security system
Also you could remove the fuse or unplug the security ECU and see what happens and if this two button arrangement still works, you may find additional wiring connections at the ECU.
In the end if you still wish to have central locking then aftermarket kits that are easy to install are available.
That the ECU so carefully remove the plug and if the engine still starts, I don’t expect it will, and what the lamp is doing. Is this the ECU in pic, there is one loan Red bare wire sticking out, with no where to go.
Hi, the security system on the 200 series and first few months of the new 300 had an antenna fed via coax cable which was terminated with a tv style coax plugShould there be a tv coax style plug antenna in there somewhere? I've heard about it but can't see it anywhere??
Well I give up it must be Bypassed or something by the PO. I removed both plugs one at a time and it still started, There is a small Inline 10 amp fuse, red wire, when I took fuse out while running with both plugs still out the engine stopped, put it back in and it started straight up again. That the ECU so carefully remove the plug and if the engine still starts, I don’t expect it will, and what the lamp is doing.
The size of the wire and the colour is wrong but theres a similar wire thats the antenna for the remote,
In that birds nest of a wiring loom there’s a wire going the the dash immobiliser lamp, but being a security system it’s difficult to find a schematic wiring diagram to what wire is what.
As u state the immobiliser lamp is flashing, I can’t say I've noticed my disco lamp flashing, I never taking that notice as it’s not very often it happens, but then Im sure it’s static, so moving the fob closer to the ignition switch remobilise the engine and extinguished the lamp.
