and its ok to use for the clutch even being synthetic? I ask because i remember running my eyes over someone saying not to use synthetic oil in the clutch.

Thanks for the help.

Just reading up on fluids......for a P38a, 2000, 4.6L.

1. Engine oil can be any type ( mineral, semi/fully synthetic?) as long as API 5W/30, recommended brand(s)...need 7 litres?

2. Dexron III for auto gearbox, transfer box, power steering....how many litres in total, preferred brands?

3. Differential....EP90 1.6 litres ( excuse my ignorance, it has a front and rear diff, so double amount?)

4. Brakes...DOT 5.1...how much?

5. Other fluids....for final drive unit (Texaco multigear 75W 90R)...what to use how much?!

Recommended bulk suppliers?

Thanks

Do have the RAVE manuals - capacities will be in there.

Don't use DOT 5.1 use Dot 4. Nowhere does it say use DOT 5.1. What other final drive unit do you think you have other than the diffs? They take 1.7 litres each.

Again Wammers/V8, which brands are recommended (personal choices?), yes I have RAVE on a disc, but am an Apple user, CD driveless, aint gotten around to uploading!

If someone could confirm volumes that would be great.

Ok re DOT 4

Online PDF version of the manauls - pdf Land Rover Manuals | Landroverweb.com

As for brands, for engine oil I use whatever is on offer and change it more regularly.

Brake fluid, use a named brand...

Gearbox oil, use a good quality brand

budget dictates, just change it more frequently...

Synthetic Oils in the engine are a waste imho

PS Which file has what I need on it?

The lubricant file only goes up to 1991

So of these two, is there any difference or anyone recommend?

Smith & Allan ATF DIII (Dexron 3) ATF D3 Semi Synthetic (20 litres for £56 odd)

Vs

Motul DEXRON III ( via OPIE oils 14L £126!!)

It may be overkill but I prefer Great stuff and can feel the difference.Sure there's loads of other good stuff on the market, this is only my latest experience and very pleased so far and by shopping around Great stuff doesn't need costing more than good stuff;):amen:

ATF Gear box & transfer: Lucas Oil Products (UK) - Heavy Duty & High Performance Lubricants

Gear box one off treatment: Lucas Oil Products (UK) - Heavy Duty & High Performance Lubricants

Diffs: Lucas Oil Products (UK) - Heavy Duty & High Performance Lubricants

Engine any ordinary oil like this: SHELL Helix Engine Oil - HX7 10W40 (5 Litre) | eBay (Haven't actually tried this one yet)
With a gloop of this: EXTRALUBE ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment

Prop's & U/J's lithium grease: ZX1 Super Grease
