just another question about series,
any basic upgrades/mod that could/should be done to improve it for road driving without doing anything major such as an engine replacement.....

Don't do it! I drive a standard series over 12,000 miles a year and love it. Keep it as mate.

EDIT: just re-read! Go round tightening everything up, change all fluids, tighten exhaust manifold, check tyre pressures, shove bits of card into rattley bits

Electronic ignition. Inertia reel seat belts. Headlight upgrade or some decent driving lights. Reversing light. Nothing that detracts from it's originality, just bits that make it more practical.

I agree with Oxides,

Modern inertia reel seatbelts
Reversing light

I have also replaced the centre seat with a cubby box (makes a big difference - can keep satnav, sweets, torch and odd bit of shopping in there)

I also bought a vinyl door trim kit to make the interior look a little less austere....and a pair of rear bench seats.

Go to B&Q and they sell cheap thick rubber matting with a treadplate pattern. Buy two sheets then spray adhesive on the rear floor and lay the matting down and trim to size. Keeps noise levels down when carrying metal objects and you can still hose it out.

well i wanted to keep it looking standard and keep it like a series two landrover
i will rig up a reresving light, seatbelts i have already made a middle cubby box :)

NOS, Hydraulic suspension, spinning rims, neons, chrome, dvd players in the wheel arches.

Or.....

I've also fitted a rear wash/wipe which is handy. I wouldn't mind a heated rear screen....
