hi how bad a job is it to change one and is it common for people to use a series 3 box on a s2a? also does anybody have one laying around?

easy apart from floor and seat box ,series 3 is a straight swap apart from slave cylinder feed pipe needs moving to other side ,or build a series 3 box with 2a bellhousing and clutch release mechanism

so you need to remove floor and seat box? hope not its all just been put back in doh! the truck is my father in laws and i just paid a mate to put a new box in and we asked him to do the steering box aswell but the one we supplied was a s2a box but hes saying its not the same so thinks we need a s3 gearbox its just a pain as its just had the box in and its been mot'ed and insured and we cant use it

Er....think he's on about the turny round in circles box not the go fasterer and slowerer box James :D

sorry im on about gear box ,2a and 3 steering boxes have different shafts which have 1 of box bearing surfaces machined on shaft ,whereas the rest is the same it means you cant fit old series shaft and column to new or recon series 3 box ,anything but series 3 is old stock dealers only and pricey ,as said shaft needs changing as nearly allways has worn bearing surface ,i have cut and welded different shafts to make an early box out of later ,hardest part of removal is drop arm on box
