Hi all,
I am looking to install new seatbelts in my s3 SW on the front Three seats and second row seats.
Ideally I would put inertia reel seatbelts on all six seats if possible.
Has anyone done this already and where would be the best place to purchase the parts?
Many thanks in advance,

Mitch

I've bought some from Craddocks for my SWB (hence front-only), but I've not got as far as fitting them yet (still a few weeks before I get around to doing that), so do please let me know how you get on and what gotchas I need to look out for!

I fitted a driver and passenger 3 point inertia reel belts to my 2A years ago, no issue fitting at all. Came with a bracket that bolted nicely in to the roof internal seams. Never bothered with a middle belt

Thanks all for the replies. As mine is a 5 door station wagon, the upper mount for the front seats is different from a SWB or van body as I have a ‘b’ pillar. From what I can tell, there is a lower bracket that can be bought easily enough for the inertia reel, but the upper mount is a mystery! My b pillars have had a hole drilled through them At the top and a shackle type affair on the inside. It looks really crude and not what I would expect to see as there are no crush tubes to prevent distortion under load. Surely that is not a Landrover original fitment? o_O I have found a write up for the second row seats on a 110 which looks very similar to series, so maybe the parts fit? Does anyone know if the parts are interchangeable?

I'd imagine the defender bits would fit, the tub is the same size.

Looking at the Rovers North kit I do not see installation instructions? Is that upper bracket supposed to go inside the door pillar? Please see photo

I don't know, but I'd guess it fits just behind the pillar, across the top front corner of the rear door. The step in the top edge of the bracket look like it's designed to fit over the tab where the top of the pillar bolts to the roof.

On an 88, the bracket fits in approximately the same position behind the pillar, with is pretty much where a rear door would be if there was one. It's just a slightly different shape so it doesn't interfere with the door aperture as much as the SWB version would.

But then I could be wrong!

Adam.

No I think you're right, its the same part that goes on a truck cab so that it doesn't clash with the corner windows.

This is what I used in my 2a Station wagon.
Top of the bracket bolts through where the roof meets the side under the spline wibdow and the narrow end through the c pillar.
The other end of the anchorage goes through the angled raised second row floor with a spreader plate.
Hi, I take it that this is for the second row seats only?
The bracket I was also looking for was for the front upper support at the ‘b’ pillar. What does your bracket look like?
Thanks

I haven't been on here for ages, I have just taken a picture of the fitted bracket for you, I will attempt to upload it.

Thanks Ivanhoe for the photo. That clears it up nicely. I was guessing the bracket went there but there are no matching holes in the vertical part of the door pillar so was not certain. I guess you have to drill through both sides and put long bolts through?

You are correct, I did not fit these, my project Landy came to me like this. -

Thanks again. This is a big help. That kit from Rovers North is a bit expensive but probably worth while if you are going to drive your Series a lot.
