part of an article on classic car prices from this mornings telegraph

"Land Rovers, popular with collectors, have been increasing in value, particularly Series I cars. Series II, IIA and III models remain available for under £10,000 and early two-door Range Rovers start at £9,100 but, the guide warned, “won’t be at this level for long”.

that should spark a few crazy price ebay listings :D

actually I wouldn't mind an early rangie

Even average condition early rangies with the two doors are difficult to source even cheaply.I'd like to get one too. Mechanically easy to maintain, classic V8 - yeah. Series landy values are suppressed by too many vehicles suffering from fandango mods. It's originality that holds value. Pristine examples of a S3 command well north of £10K. There will get to a point with the supply of S3 getting restricted that price will start to rise a lot. Look at S1 n S2 prices. What puzzles me is the high prices for 20 plus years old Defenders.

Just had my 1974 series swb petrol Landy valued by insurance company at 10,000 pounds

nice, assuming its fairly original?

It was originally a 400 pound wreck so many many new parts and fabrication but looks original apart from some chequered plate on the areas prone to damage, just to protect and defender rims for the Goodyears:D

My 2A cost less than a grand and a half in January.

After extensive beatings and swearing, an MOT and threatening with the scrapper its worth about five hundred quid short of two grand.

and ive only spent a grand on it................. :p

Seems to me that people are fed up with their money being worth nothing in the bank so more people are buying cars/bikes/houses/fishing rods - whatever their dream was / is and enjoying them.
One upside of this is that many people have little in the way of knowledge/skills or kit to look after them, so its not hard to step in and make their simple vehicles run nicely. Without having to spend a bloody fortune on diagnostic tools and software flashes....

£400 Last year .....AND it was on parabollocks with an overdrive ....

Still bargains out there to be had BUT prices ARE creeping up, the same as other sections of the motoring world It starts with the oldest/rarest etc and gradually works it's way through the other models ...

VW split screens £1000 a window and above for a 32 window Samba ....
And now T25's and T4's

Ive been looking into getting a series landy and you can still pick up a decent tax exempt one for under 2.5 k

Anything at over 5 k that isnt realy special seem to be on the market for a very long time
