Hi guys, just about to start restoring a 2a, whats the best method of getting the body down to bare metal?
Nitromors or any good brand of paint stripper, use in a well ventilated area and no smoking near the stuff as it nullifies it. Using paint stripper can be very time consuming (takes me 40 hours to strip one of my classics back to bear metal), so recently I have taken to using a blow toch, let the paint bubble with heat and scrape off removing the heat scource so no fire ensues. This method is also very good for the longetivity of the alloy panels as it anneals it so removes all the stresses that have built up over the years. Hope this helps, Barry

I'm running out of elbow grease. Spiderman, round about how much would it cost to have the whole thing blasted?

if you get it blasted all the paint will come off because it gets in to all nooks and crannys

if you are doing just the body panels then nitromoors works a treat. if you are doing the chassis then i would recommend getting a mobile grit blaster to do it for you. I had my chassis and bulkhead blasted with great results...

it took the guy a morning to blast the whole landy down to bear metal, made welding so much easier. I cost about £250.
