Ok, so occasionally first thing in the morning, black thick slime comes off the steering wheel and onto my hands, even after a scrub with soap! Is this due to condensation? And can it be solved by wrapping the steering wheel in a bag overnight?

I sometimes get black stuff on my hands that is like the stuff left on paper when you rub something out. It's almost gritty.

could you put that grip tape you have for tennis racket handles/cricket bat handles on your steering wheel? that would stop it! and you would have nice warm hands on cold mornings!

:confused:Ive noticed this too. When its wet the wheel feels "rubbery"and black bits come off on my hands.Even tried some of my daughters "cockpit spray" but it didnt make any difference.

Try a leather cleaner or alcohol wipes - they will clean all that ****e orf. Mite make the wheel a bit sticky tho.

You see im thinking the black slime is 32 years of bacon sarnies, coffee, fish and chips, chocolate, grease, EP90, Diesel and ****e!

Maguires upholstery and carpet cleaner should do the job... for a while but it always comes back the best solution is to replace the wheel with an aftermarket one

Leather steering wheel cover - I found some big enough on a site a few years ago selling truck accessories.

Mine used to do that. It was years of use stuck to it. I got a brillo pad and Orange Swarfega and scrubbed it all off. It was YUKKK!
