Hello all,

I have messed around with my carbs quite a bit trying to get them set up right....I got a colourtune and the mixture wouldn't go rich.

Today I removed the PCV pipe from the rocker breather to the manifold and plugged the pipe and just routed the PCV pipe to the air intake elbow....

Now I got my mixture set bang on and all seems well with the world. Also I seem to be able to get a bit more speed in each gear....

Question is, is this going to do damage or can I just leave it like this? Or must I set up the mixture like this and change back....any advice?

Cheers

Screw the PCV system. I generally pull the **** off as soon as I get my grubby mitts on an older (unmanaged) engine. As long as the block can still BREATHE you'll be fine.

HOWEVER. stuffing the breather in the intake pipe will force all kinds of ****e into your carb so, just I route a pipe further up the engine bay, and stuff a filter on the end.

Ta, I'll probably take your advice there, I only had a small pipe and it just reached the inlet nipple. Does the breather always blow or might it suck?

.....blowing or sucking..........so many jokes, so little time :D

The breather would normally be blowing into the PCV system/valve, and then from there feed into the manifold, aditionally being pulled on by the intake flow of the manifold, recirculating some of that gas and air mix from the crank into the burn mix. some back-flow may be evident, but only due to atmospherics or the engine stopping and rapidly cooling etc.

Smart, I'll probably just loop it over the engine and maybe hang a pot off it to catch the oil...or leave it as a rust-proofer!
