jumped in my ex mod 109 this morning, it's a 2.5 na engine. bump started it as usual due to having a dodgy starter solenoid, she fired up then stopped *(couple of seconds). there is diesel in it, there is power to the solenoid on the pump, and there is diesel up to the filter. the only thing that crossed my mind is, is there a cut out if it's low on oil? as it is on the low mark on the stick.

thanks
Ben:)

there isnt a murphy switch fitted as std ,and in any case it would work of pressure not level ,you would have to have quite a bit lower level than low mark on the stick before pump pick up was sucking air ,level has to take into account sharp corners and hills, id try and bleed it ,fuel issues are uncommon (poor lift pump, fuel blockage ,filter, air leak etc)

ok, thanks. will walk back down the road with some spanners and have a try :)

just had an awful thought, i'm assuming it has a timing belt? is it likely to have snapped? it's not making and undue noises when i turn it over.

it has a timing belt ,you would have noticed if belt had snapped ,it wouldnt spin free till the push rods bent,

well i went back and checked if there was fuel up to the injectors, there was. put some jump leads on it and it started up no bother. must have just been a funny 5 minutes.
