Jnr is 14. He's done a driving course at Snetterton racetrack already and was really good (in a manual Mini). Just need to find some space for him to get have a go and make some mistakes without too much risk of doing any harm!
BnQ car park on a Sunday evening :D

Hi @Marmaduke
A couple of bits, but nothing major. Decided to take the truck to a pay and play a week or so ago and to replace the tyres beforehand as originals were badly cracked. Turned out they're still tubed, which led to its own challenges. Long story short, I bought a 2nd hand set of steels with pirelli scorpion muds on them 265/75/16

One fitted to rear for comparison with standard wheel on front

Then, once fitted, it was off for a play in some mud

Then we had an overheat on way home so with the assistance of the AA, removed the thermostat temporarily as it looked to have given up

Got a few bits planned for the coming weekend (was too hot weekend just gone!), including replacing thermostat with a new one, check and top up diff, gearbox and swivel housing oil, sorting the airbox out and potentially adding a snorkel, adding diff guards.

I bought the wheels and tyres from Richard Hall (Glencoyne Engineers) who specialises in series LRs. He gave the truck a once over which was massively helpful and gave me some great advice. He also identied thetruck was a 2.25 petrol at some point with the 2.5 n/a 12j being fitted at a later date. Reassuringly, he also said the chassis was pretty good. Very happy with that for a 37yr old car! Hoping that makes the resto work a tad easier.....

Those tyres look huge, I wrecked my first series at a pay and play site so I tend to steer clear of them.

They are quite big. On the plus side, the speedo now read ms correctly when compared with my Waze!

I can fully understand how that could happen. I'm not planning anything mad, we're quite happy pottering around those sites. No interest at all in trying to get through bogs and similar (fun to watch others though!). Besides which, I'm determined not to damage the truck as it'll make the restoration harder! :)
