Advice please. I am replacing my rusted fuel tank on my Diesel Series 3 with a better one from a Petrol Landy. Will it just be a straight swap ?:confused:

Sorry, I haven't made myself clear. Will the fuel float, wiring , breathers etc be the same on a diesel tank and petrol tank ? Thanks.

I know on the disco's the oil burners have a return fuel pipe which the petrol doesnt have. I take it the series is the same.....rusty will probably know

How do I get round this then? I have seen the same fuel tanks advertised as petrol and diesel so whats the score? Will the petrol one have an air vent which could be used as a return feed? Has anyone out there actually done the conversion on the tanks? Ta.

Hi on the petrol you have the feed to the tank
you should also have another hole with a
blanking plate over it for the return feed for the diesel
hope this helps Stuart:):):eek::eek:

Betty was petrol, then i droped in the 12j, on top of the sender (marked as #1) i used that as the fuel line to the engine. Just above the sender (marked as #2) is some sort of breather (i think) but i used that as a return. Hope this pic helps. Also for some reason the sender has 1 wire ?

Thanks Stuart, its a great help. Also UK Akita, but you seem to have too many hoses there.

Dont worry about that, it was a temp bodge. The black outlet which goes to the clear, that reapears in the pic to the right should go to the solid black which goes to the engine. The clear with the cross's in it is the return.
