Hey there guys, i recently bought a series 3 without a chassis plate, is there any way to identify the chassis number or year of manufacture? number plate reads JWN 735L, any ideas?

does it have an mot? afaik you can't get an mot unless the chassis number is on the vehicle somewhere.

if it has its' original chassis the number should be stamped on the chassis, my s1 has it on the passenger side front spring hanger, haven't looked for it on the s3.

v5 is lost and last time the vehicle was taxed was in 1992, just a case of rigorously searching for an intact chassis number when i take delivery

If dumb iron has been replaced then unlikely to find a chassis number on chassis.
Contact DVLA and ask them to send you a new V5.
Beware the chassis might also have been swapped for another and chassis number might not be correct for the registration.

I actually bought two from the same guy, one of which has intact documents and is tax exempt, so im going to chase up the second with the dvla and keep my fingers crossed, however when i recieve the latter i will thouroughly inspect the chassis and engine bay for any signs of the original chassis number
