Good afternoon all, I've scoured the threads on LZ but I can't find anything about the type and amount of oil you need to put in a series 3 steering box after you've rebuilt it.

Also, I've greased the bearings with a standard Castrol bearing grease but I was a bit concerned this might react with any oil I put in it afterwards.

As ever, any help very much appreciated.

Cheers.

Excellent, right I'll get some of that ordered. How much do I need to put in? A bottle is 370g.

Thanks so much for getting back so quickly, much appreciated!

Get a gallon / 5L of EP90 GL4, (Not GL5), you can get in on e-bay of your local motor factors should stock it. They tend to have GL5 on the shelves because its for modern vehicles but they usually stock GL4, it common on tractors and machinery as well as Land Rovers. As its the oil that goes in the axles, swivels, gearbox and transfer box you will always get through it and it works out under £20 for 5L delivered:
