Hi all . I have a 1977 series 3 109" safari landy and was wondering about the rear floor . I took the car for mot and the rear floor supports (although not structural) failed the mot for being rotten. . My Question is , Can I remove the floor and the supports and replace the floor with a 3/4" ply wood sheet as it is strong enough and get away with it at the mot re-test . This would do away with the ally floor which is rotten in places .
Thganks for looking and Happy New Year to all Members and guests . . Ian

Id replace the floor supports if I were you as the MOT man may take a dim view of this mod.
The reason it failed was probably due to the perforation within 20 inches of a structural point.

Thanks for the reply . I have already replaced the floor yesterday morning and it looks a lot better . I spoke to a Landy expetr and he said the mot bloke had no knowledge of Landies and should not have failed the floor supports as they are not structural .I have put the Landy on ebay which has 2 days left, as I am after an 88" diesel and mine is a 109" safari diesel . Short wheelbase better for off roading although a bit more bumpier ride I think .

I forgot that tip "Look for a good MOT man who knows what he is doing".
Good luck with the sale.

Thanks . I am waiting for a mobile welder to estimate one small patch on the chassis this afternoon and then I can get on with the other little bits that need doing . hopefully it doesnt sell ltil I mot it then I will be looking for an 88" .
Ian
