Yours has a radio?I like a diesel.......got another series 3 ex-mil 2.5n/a conversion going on at the moment. Loud, rattly smelly and impractical but still rather have a diesel any day. Had a series 2 petrol recently it was so quiet I could hear the radio, didn't seem natural.

It's my understanding you can't run a Series diesel on bio. You can but it wrecks the deals so I have been told. Someone with actual facts will be along soon no doubt.
If you 200tdi convert it you can run it on straight veg oil. When I was a student and had no money I used to empty the fryers at the local pub, run the waste oil through a filter and throw it straight in the tank. Depending on the time of year depended on how much diesel I added but could happily run 80% oil mix and that was free fuel. You just had to change the fuel filter every couple thousand miles and accept that everywhere you went the land rover smelt like a samosa!
I wanted to do this too but too many peeps had jumped on the bandwagon and I couldn't get used veg oil for love nor money so gave up. For a while my son-in-law bought veg oil in supermarkets as it was cheaper than diesel.
I am going back 8-10 years! I ran it for a while on new from the supermarket when I lost my supply, but that was back when fuel was £1.45 a litre and veg oil was 80p. Now I am back to running on straight derv but I am no longer a student and have money for fuel and repairs rather than having to choose!

If it is warm enough you can run it straight, but that is why I would dilute it down with diesel. Roughly 80% veg oil in the summer and 20% veg in the winter. That way you do not need any modifications, if you add twin tanks and a fuel heater etc, you can run 100% veg but it is not worth the install costs and effort in my opinion. I ran like this for about 4 years, no problems and and the engine and pump are still going 8 years later at 325k miles. But I did take precautions, I shortened the service interval to 5k, I replaced the fuel filter every 2k and a lift pump would last between 6-12 months. But one tank of 50% free veg oil would pay for the lift pump and fuel filter with change left over so I still saved money!
