Hi, I'm new to land rovers having bought my first Series 3 a few weeks ago. So far I've replaced the front & rear springs, front footwells and numerous other niggly bits but I'm stuck now.

The previous owner replaced the 2 1/4 diesel with a Perkins 4203 lump but because of the standard landy throttle linkage I can't get full revs out of the engine. Does anyone know a way around this?

Also does anyone know where I can get parts for the engine?

Thanks

Can supply but other than gaskets, seals etc - they'll probably order from Perkins (if available)

Oh - I have a 4203 in a SIII and throttle cable operated - done when I got the vehicle but it works fine - will take photos and email if you want. IIRC 'full throttle' on a 4203 seems to be about 2250 rpm anyway ;)

Hi
I have just bought a 4203 off ebay and will be putting in my thirsty 2.5 petrol S3. do you think this is a good idea? does it have a heater take-off?

Elf, could I ask a favour, can you take a pic of your engine for me?

I wouldnt mind knowing it I have this engine.. ( i dont really know what is in my landy:) )

thanks
John

sorry, i didnt fit it. sold it on again. i've got a prima (montego TD) engine it it now. it's great!

Hi,

I had the exact same probloem when i got my series 3 so simply grabed the throttle pedel and bent it up now its fine,

As for parts your dest bet is diperk they do mail order but you will need to find your engine number but on my 4203 it was hidden behind the fule pump whare you could not read it so i had to take off the pump in order to get it
