Hello Folks,
I live in Mid Wales near Welshpool.

Hope this isn't too much of an typical annoying newbie question !

Would be really grateful for some advice on landrover rechassis costs.
I really need to get it going again, as I always seem to be getting my transit stuck places and have to phone my mate with his Hillux to pull me out.

I have a 1979 Series 3 LWB Diesel, that I've had for many years and am very attached to.
I took the rear bodywork off to convert it to a truck cab, to make it a bit more useful. When it was a hard top, a previous owner had cut out the bulkhead behind the seats for access, so a new rear tub seemed to be the easiest option.
Anyway having removed the rear tub, discovered some nasty chassis rot on both rails, just in front of the rear spring hangers. Due to lack of funds, it then ended up in the garden under a sheet for a year - typical landrover tale !
However through a minor miracle, I've just managed to purchase a brand new, old stock OE landrover 109 chassis for very reasonable sum of money. Also found a very tidy almost rot free bulkhead that only needs minor works.
What do you reckon would be a typical fair labour fee, (give or take 25%)for re-chassising and re-bulkheading my landy up to a rolling chassis, as I could probably cope with the rest of it myself.
The engine, gearbox and running gear are all good, though would want to have a new loom fitted and overhaul the braking system while it was being done.

Just after the labour costs only, so I will have some rough idea of how much money to raise in advance.

I know it would probably be better to buy another S111 thats already been sorted, but this landy has been a faithful friend over the years and I'm loath to part with it.

Cheers for your time in reading this

Best Wishes Morgan

Haave a look in one of the landy porn mags...theres a few chassis refit specialist companies advertise in there....prob give you a good est of labour costs

Thank you for the replies.
Still very interested in any £'s info.
Also any good links to re-chassising articles on the web. I had a good look but haven't found any that really go through the process in stages. Lots of pics of happy mechanics drinking beer though.
Does the Haynes landrover restoration manual cover it.

Cheers Morgan

in th back of all the mags.
Chassies start from around £650
then you un-bolt all the bits and bolt them on to the new one.
Dont bother with the Haynes book of lies get the real "Landrover" work shop manuals (Also back of mags.)
