Can some one please help, I have just bought 1982 series 3 109 diesel and I know nothing about them but just wanted one. My questions are which would be the best manual to buy (a real book and not cd). Secondly there are two buttons on the left hand side of the instrument panel, one a big rubber one and the other a smaller plastic push button what are they for ? are they std?
 
i was going say one is the glow plugs the in law has a s2a and his has the glow plug switch there so im guessing its the same
 
Welcome to the forum, photo's almost always help with identifying bits and pieces.

The endearing thing about Land rovers is that they collect the fixes done by previous owners, you need to be a bit of a detective to see what is what, for instance on my LR the diesel ignition switch was replaced by a PO with a petrol one and an extra button to run the heaters.
I have turned it around so that the spring bias runs the heaters and the button starts the engine.....

Few land rovers are totally unmodified.

Thank you all for your help< I think in future pictures are the answer when posting but I have now followed wires and glow plugs it is!
