hi all, hope you are all well.

i own a series 2a and the studs in the hubs for the road wheels have stripped. i have been given 2 series three hubs will these fit on a series 2A?

i am aware that the size of the studs are a lil different or the thread is diffetrent on the studs. but just wondering if the actual hub would fit?

cheers all

Not sure about the series 2 /3 Hub interchangeability but you know that you can get replacement studs from Pads.

561886 Wheel Stud Series 1/2/2a

you knock or drill out the old one and then push this one in from behind.
(I used a wheel nut to pull it through.)

i think someone has already tried this and mucked it up. already have 2 second hand series 3 hubs but just wondered if they would fit.

ok i knew i would need the series 3 wheel nuts.

how come i will need new drums? is it due to the size difference of the studs?

do i really need new half shafts?

cheers mike

Mike I'm sure the splinnes on a Series 2 are wider than a 3, it might be worth a phone call to your local dealer for info.

ah dint think thur be many dealers that know much about series 2 and 2a's. unless they have some old codger hanging about in thur workshops.. i once, only once mind, wint to our local dealer to get a bit fer me series and got a reet look as if ah was in a GM dealer looking fer a manifold gasket for a vauxhall victor 101 delux.

The studs on a series 3 hub are a larger diameter.
When i changed my series 2a hubs to series 3, the half shafts fitted ok.
I forgot to mention you will need pre 1981 hubs, post 1981 are different.

hiya everybody

good news changed the hubs at the weekend and they fitted spot on.
new hub oil seals, h/shaft gaskets and wheels nuts. greased the bearings up a treat. now i can get back to driving her.

onli difference i could find was the type and size of studs.

cheers for all ur advice

have got a series 2a and want to replace my fwh but having problems getting the cast nut off. It just spins. Any ideas

I'm guessing that you are talking about the nut on the end of the half shaft?
If so you will need to put it in to 4x4 (Yellow knob down) or you will just turn over the diff.

This thread seems to be closed now but.... many moons ago I had a wheel & hub come off my series 3, We put a 2a hub and carried on off roading with 3 brakes working and a clamp on the other :D
