Hello

Possible project I'm looking at, but could do with knowing if a series 3 gearbox will fit in a series 1 without drilling any extra mounts to chassis etc.

It's a 86" series 1 and would like to know if a series 3 gear box would mount with no additional brackets / welds to the chassis etc

You will have to make/cut part of the bulkhead to allow the slave cylinder on the gearbox.

What engine are you using?

From memory, your 86'' has a solid shaft clutch release mechanism from the pedal. So no hydraulic clutch.
You would need to keep your original bellhousing but I don't know for sure if it will correctly fit to a Series 3 gearbox.

or you could convert to hydraulic clutch.

OR it is possible to fit a series 3 box with the bell housing/clutch unit from a 2/2a box

Yep that’s what I done.on 80”pedals through the floor
Now where do the pedals come from on the 86…. Through the floor or top of the footwell?
