Hi, anybody know where I can get a working fuel gauge or after market gauge, I have four and none work, thanks Pete.

If you google The part number Lots pop up , to have 4 duff ones sounds odd, have you done any testing on them apart from installing in dash which may not pick up any wiring/ sender faults

Agreed, I'd be looking to get at least one set out of 4 working. OK they are fiddly but they do come apart.

The sender unit is a variable resistor and resistance changes as the float arm moves , this allows variable current to flow through the gauge and move the pointer , Usual test is to Earth the gauge lead at sender or if you have them on them bench You could put a 9v battery across the terminals and the pointer should deflect

I have just put a new britpart sender on it, have tested that and get a high/low resistance reading when moving the arm up and down so that seems ok, I nave put a new digital voltage regulator and get a reading of 9.8 volts from that, as I understand it if you ground the green/black it should give a full reading on the gauge, but gauge ain’t moving.

The fuel gauge is 35 above so need the 10v to one side and earth to other , if you Earth at tank there could be break in cable so no movement so best run temp new earth from gauge Terminal
Do the other gauges fail this test with direct connection of voltage and earth

Hi, guy’s, cracked it, did a test on the gauge on the bench and got it to work, so I think it was a bad earth, but many thanks for your input, don’t know what we would do without this forum
