Stick to be turbo back on and it’ll go way better

It might go better but will it stop better;).
The idea of taking the turbo of is more to do with restricting the power getting to those ancient series drive bits and bobs not to mention those single line non servo anchors....oh yes and the exhaust does fit better with a series manifold:)

Check my sig ;)

I’m fully aware how a Tdi Series drives :)

I always have signatures switched off, save on bandwidth.

If that is it in your avatar, it is heavily modified!;):D
Think my avatar is my p38. But I do have a heavily modded Land Rover. Too modded to post pictures on the internet of it. Although it’s fully legal.

I also have a S3 88 with a 200Tdi in. Stock Series axles, gearboxes and brakes. My sig has a link to a build thread. Although I’m on the mobile site and can’t see sigs.

The 88 also has custom suspension and power steering.

The series brakes aren't actually too bad if they are properly set up and adjusted.
Unfortunately, many aren't.

For other resons I was looking on the DVLA website re MOT exemption and it has some interesting conditions, the way I read it engine swaps more than 30 years ago are OK, but later they need to be like for like, or similar number of cylinders and similar design. I see this as rulling the 200 / 300 TDI in but potentially problematic for a 4 cyl to 8 cyl conversion. Its early days and perhaps they will clarify what is allowed and what is not to get MOT exemption. Not a show stopper to have to have an MOT as its not tied in to tax free status.

Yes thats the way I read it, seems to be that most engines up to the 300 Tdi are the 'same basic engine' so are ok for swaps with no change to vehicle status.
I wouldn't be surprised if some change to the wording occurs in the future to rule out turbos etc to stop people totally taking the ****. This also rules out any other type of engine being used for a conversion though such as perkins as they are not the same basic engine as the original.

To also avoid undue hassle. Too many wannabe vigilante types on the internet. Especially around modded vehciles. Mine has been inspected and photos sent to the DVLA and the log book updated. But I can do without some keyboard warrior trying to tell it is or isn’t legal based on their false facts and poor opinions. It just isn’t wo

I doubt the government will ever give a clear yay or nay on a single vehicle model or modification. They never have for anything else.

It’s also a self declaration.

The current regs guidelines mention mods that happened within 10 years of the end of production. It also mentions that mods for improving efficiency may not impact its MoT exemption.

Land Rover did make some 88 Stage 1’s. Six I think and the regular 109. And people have been putting V8’s in them for a long time. But don’t know when it started.

There is also reasonable case to claim the Series II thru III is the same vehicle. As they essentially are. Thus production for these would have been around 1984.

All said and done a V8 Land Rover is likely fine. But would be an individuals choice.

You are right about the 3.3 Perkins, mine was fitted around 1980 and so it clears the 30 year rule and its a 1969 engine so its fine of "historic" , but now I'm thinking I need to be ready to prove that just in case the issue comes up on the MOT.

Update, went down the injector servicing route! Professional did it and set them. One was simply ****ing fuel so might be our issue right there! I'm putting them back in now.

Question....

Why does one injector have a sort of linear grove across its head? Others don't. See photos.
