i been restoring my landy for about 12 mths, im neely finished when i realised the clutch is knackred:mad:,i just ordered a kit from paddocks :)
it comes with the thrust bearing which in mine makes a right rackett,
what i would like to know is, are britpart clutches any good and has any one got any tips of the trade to remove , hasstle free

Stay away from Britpart. It's not a job you'll want to do too often, so get a decent make (Valeo/LUK/Borg&Beck etc.) and do it the once.

Job's actually quite easy on a series, because you can take up the floor. If you've got an engine crane, you can support and move the box this way.

i had a feeling some one was going to say that about britpart lol prehaps cheap is not the right way to go.
i have got all the floors out and the seat box only problem is i havent the room for a crane so its gona have to be brute force and some red bull

You've obviously done it by now. With a trolley jack and enthusiasm - how is it to do?

You can slide the gearbox back 6" and change the clutch- PROVIDED you do not have an overdrive fitted. If you do pop it of first then slide gearbox back. Did mine and is a straightforward job.

The opinion seems to be that Britpart clutches are inferior but has anyone actually had one fail prematurely ? Or is it just that Britpart has had a bad press on this forum so ALL their parts are considered poor quality?

Big confession. I've got one, done about 5 years ago and no problems whatsoever. Maybe just lucky;)

Given the reputation of britpart stuff it just makes sense to lessen your chances of having to do it again soon by using the best quality parts. After all there's not a huge difference in price really.
