As above, it's a 1977 series 3, in average condition, neet restoration project, look forward to pics of that! ;)
Going to get her tomorrow, tell me what you think!

I don't honestly know, did not get any photos. I'm assuming the chassis is good based on the X member, and the bulkhead may need some work, but i'm all in favor of it :)
Only thing is, hasn't run in 8 years, so this should be interesting ;)
This is the first series land rover i will own, and the first series i restore. I can tell, i'm gonna love every second :D

Good choice looks great! Don't forget theres a lot of checks to be done if its not run in 8 years and the all important oil pressure must be obtained before start up! Good luck you will have a lot of fun restoring her

Chris

Good looking landy. Should be a good project. Looks like its on rear parabolic springs. It's been a soft top sometime in the past, its got clasps for a drop rear door. Exhaust is hanging oddly but that is fixable. Should scrub up nicely.Good luck

Well guys, i'm ****ed. The woman selling her, said i was going to have it, it was mine, and i was going to turn up today. About 9pm this morning i got a message saying that someone else was going to buy it, me having ALLREADY reserved it. It's gone. Sorry, everyone :(

Well, this is when you start to imagine all the disasters and convince yourself you're lucky not to have bought it. It's the only way...:)

bit underhand of the seller if they had agreed you could have it.

these things do often happen for a reason or seem to, next week you will stumble across one you will like better

What happened to "my word is my bond" in jolly old England?

OOPS JUST NOTICED you're in FRANCE no wonder lol

GUYS: there could be a glimmer of hope:: the woman phoned me back, saying the guy who came round was actually just a time waster. She's now offered me the landy at 750 euros with a free case of wine! (about 540 quid!)

To build on the commiseration there is a Scottish saying "what goes by you is not for you". Pebbles on the beach sort of thing. Easy to torture yourself about what could be. Your landy is out there waiting for you matey .

Give it a dam good look over, the other buyer may have seen something that made him walk away.

very good point

£540 is good eating though and if you are going for a resto with open eyes there isn't much that can't be sorted one way or another. I have said this before, if I had looked at both of my series more closely I probably wouldn't have bought either but I have had em both for years now.

he may have realised he wasn't up to doing the necessary work, plenty of people start projects then sell them up or never finish

Right, guys! i'm back from the trip! good 'ol disco got us back. I will post pics tomorrow, As you would expect, corrosion in the footwells, not too much though. Pleasantly surprised. There was even a solid looking rear X member!!
Bulkhead looks VERY good, considering. Alot of surface corrosion on the chassis, 2 outriggers will need replacing i believe. Engine is NOT seized, it turns over. No battery in it upon purchase. Rather worryingly, a transfer box was in the back, along with a spare wheel. I figured if i was to take everything apart anyway, would not be too big a deal. The tops of the doors are absolutely AWFUL. nothing holding the glass up. I had to hold the top of the door shut with a bungee cord upon transport.
I will post pics tomorrow. The restoration will have to wait a few weeks, waiting on someone to sell a citroen with collapsed suspension, which we can hopefully then fix, then flog the car, make a few bucks out of it.
