Hi
I'm currently stripping down a 1977 series 3 109 to do a full renovation job and am looking for a rear 1/2 chassis but can't find one ???

I can find loads of SWB half chassis but none for the 109 ?? I'm a dab hand with a welder so does anybody know if a SWB can be used/modified to fit a 109 ????

Thanks in advance

The one on ebay is for a series 1 if its the same one and looks like somebody's made it in their shed by the looks of the welds, and 1250 quid!!! its not even galvanised..
I don't think you will find one for a series 3 109.

Oh yeh ! Just seen that ! You can get a SWB one for about £300, I'm sure I will be able to modifie it to fit ! What could be wrong ? too short I can make it longer and chop off old fuel tank supports and re-use ! what else

What do you mean?
I've just looked again at the one on eBay,it looks good or I'm I missing something?

It does look good ! But that's a 1/4 chassis but still better than nothing. My original post was for a 1/2 chassis for a 109, you can get them for SWB but not the 109 ? Was just saying that going off the photos the 109 has an extra crossmember in between the chassis rails as appose to the SWB .

Ok
I think the spring hangers are different as well
When I did the rear chassis on my 109 the 1/4 chassis was enough but I still had to replace the front spring hangers as well as some lower middle chassis sections

Ok Cheers mate . Having already priced up spring hangers, rear out riggers etc I just thought that a new 1/2 chassis would have been the way to go . Looks like it’s going to be a 1/4 chassis then and just cut out all the rotten bits and weld .

Cheers Jason

LWB and SWB chassis are very different, especially at the rear. Get a 1/4 chassis and the rear outriggers. You can get chassis rail repair bottom sections. Is your mil or civvy? Very important as the rear crossmembers, outriggers and spring hangers are different in ways that matter.

Thanks for that ! It's a civvy station wagon !
