Sills are S2a as is the combined brake and clutch fluid reservoir. Heater, bulkhead and hinges and dash all S3. Front panel could be late 2a but should be lights in centre panel for the age. Defo a bitsa and £4k seems a bit high for non original, failing water pump and duff springs.

he says it runs well, starts drives and stops but should be trailered away?

something he isn't telling us?

It appears to have a Salisbury rear axle so I would say definitely a S3. The only parts I can see that are S11a are the clutch and brake reservoir and the sills.

My early series 3 has the same combined reservoir set up.
Probably a ringer not much 2a about it, bugger all that I can see. The sills are from something old but the different colour is a bit of a give away.
