Its Carl here, i posted this thread ages ago!

I wanted to fit a 200tdi in my series 2a.

I do quite like the look of the front end and it would be a shame to change it.

Classic lannys are exactly that.

Series 2a
  • Leaf Springs
  • Unpowerful but strong engines
  • No syncro in 1st + 2nd
  • Basic electrics
  • Poor heaters
  • "Unwaterproof" roofs

They are what they are!

But the biggest carrot of all is the tax exempt classification.

..... Which I like, alot!

So the best idea is to buy a "modified 90/2a"

This is a series III with the Defender front end. Not one for the purists!

Its a tidy old thing!
Very nice inside.

.... apart from the steering wheel!

I could do with a roof lining for mine.

Is it standard engine and box?

if you want to restore the front end, let me know, i have a pair of series 2 wings and a bonnet up fer grabs ;)

Seems to be all standard as far as my untrained eye can tell.
