Thought I'd pop a thread up on here of my series 2 rebuild, plan is to get it all mechanically sound and sort out a few patches of rust along with a new bulkhead, also planning on doing a 200di conversion to it at the same time
Missing bits and the injection pump was half knackered and i picked it up cheap anyway as a project.
Looks to have been owned by a master bodger at some point as well as there was some pretty dodgy wiring and other repairs on it!
Sorry for the lack of updates i've been concentrating on a levels but now they're done i've been able to crack on with the rebuild.
Now got it completely stripped down the the chassis which i don't think is worth keeping now i'm this far, the front dumb irons are rusted out and there's quite a few poor patches so will probably scrap the chassis
today i've started stripping down the steering box, the bearing races are fairly pitted and the inner column has some pitting/chipping although when pushing a bearing across it it isn't noticeable so hoping i don't have to replace it?
when buying parts from craddocks like new bearing races for the steering box are they likely to turn up in a blue box or are they going to be genuine?
everso likely to be in a blue box from 'addocks, you need to speak to folks on the phone to ensure you buy good quality stuff rather than just order online
i personally can't recommend any supplier for quality parts (not bought anything online) so you'll have to wait a little longer for better replies
