Watch lots of pics on utube of series 1 landrovers. And more often than not the wheels and tyres go past the wheel arches?
What S1 you been looking at? Bet they were off road chunky tyres & modified motorsPast the wheel arches look wide .I like the look
Dont forget s1 were just the prototype for the real landrovers that followed, remember to tell any s1 driver you meet that useful bit of info
They are not the correct tyres
Yes but the correct size? They are not the correct tyres
Can you zoom in on the sidewall to read the numbers?Yes but the correct size?
I only saw they were bar gripsCan you zoom in on the sidewall to read the numbers?
Hard to say from photos, but those look like 7.50x16 military bar grip tyres, which I used to run on my 2a back in the 80s, because I could get them very cheap.
As far as I know, SWB Series 1s for civilian market had 6.00x16 tyres, and 7.50x16 for LWB.
A Series 1 with thin crossply tyres is a very nice drive, the steering is quite easy to turn, which changed when radials started to be fitted.
Obviously, the crossplys won't be so good for braking and cornering as radials, but what you gain on the roundabouts, you lose on the swings.
I would too if I had one now.I only saw they were bar grips
We only have the 600x16 fitted
A thing of great beauty!!
