Hello,

just new so be patient.Just bought a 98(R) Disco XS and wanted to know
how I can tell if it's a series 1 or 2. It has the newer steering wheel with
driver & passenger airbags etc but has the Tdi engine.

Apologies in advance if it's a daft question,

do you have 2 sets of rear lights? ie a set in the bumper.
if so, you have a disco2.

Hi Ormus,

thanks for the speedy reply.Checked the rear bumper & it has lights
so I have a series 2 then.Thanks again...........Kertir.

no no no no no ! dormouse is wrong. YOU HAVE A DISCO ONE disco 2 was made from a t reg onwards. all disco's after 1994 have lights in the bumpers and on the reardisco 2 has a fibreglass rear bumper with the word LANDROVER embossed in the centre. you have a 300tdi disco 1 disco 2's have a td5 engine or a big petrol thingy( 3.9 v8 i think) this is the correct answer to your quiestion

Hey disco my fibreglass bumper wrote a vauxhaull corsa off, and as for it being the better one well I beg to differ, looking at the forums there seems to be less TD5 problems posted. Not havin a pop or awt ;-)
