original headlamps behind the grille, but it looks like it's had a replacement (galvanised) chassis at some point...

Looks like a Pre-Pro, bumper integral with chassis, so galvanised probabaly correct, so 1948. Unfortunately I've lent my book* out, so I can't look up which one.

Almost certainly, they made holes in the grill for the headlights before they went to selectable 4wd.
 
that old model must of had a better steering lock than mine to be able to plough in that little garden? Mind them flowers or it's coming out yer money!!!
