Dont do that m8 ... not for gearbox, maybe u misunderstood this one is for diffs and transfer box .. listen to jamesmartin... he knows what he's talking about ... (your guy maybe works just on series:rolleyes:) the R380 box is very squeamish .... MTF94 or ATF dexron III
 
if i said i had my own garage and had been working a similar time would that help ,and have been reconditioning them for over 20 years atf automatic transmission fluid dexron 2 or 3 mtf94 manual transmission fluid part no stc9157 1 litre or stc9157 5 litres lr recommended both latter now recommended but will run on either ,but change yearly if long life required
 
ATF in general looking at castrol site it is 75W 90

Cos it's a transmission fluid and the diffs and the transfer box are transmission as well... Dexron IID or III which u can put in the R380 is something else....u will not be happy with the 75w90 in the gearbox....i rest my case
 
Oil that works in gearboxes is not just down to the viscosities.
some stuff works well with the bearings but messes up the syncromesh function.
Some stuff works well with the syncromesh but not the bearings.
The Good stuff is good with both.
LR spent a lot of money with Texaco to come up with something that works.Why not use it - or a CLOSE equivalent if you have to.
 
you stick that crap in your box it`s gonna **** up. when it gets hot will be hell to get into gear dont do it go to landrover get the MTF94
