Come on guys, cut the new guy some slack! This place will turn into Royston Vasey if you can't play nice with the new members!

Maybe we should implement a minimum post count before people are allowed to abuse newbies (that's a minimum number of posts for the receiver, not the giver), with the possible exception of "What size tyres...?" as a first post?

At the risk of getting into trouble with my fellow members for being too nice, you did go about it in the wrong way.
Many of the members like to know who has joined the forum recently; this in usually done by putting a little bit about yourself in the section coincidentally called "Introduce Yourself" before you dive into the rest of the forum.
Next, your first post did come across as a bit of a "I've got a Td5 which I can't do anything with, what will you give me for it?" which frankly does sound like a bit of spam on the boards.
Hence the abuse.

So far as selling on the forum is concerned, yes, we do have a "For Sale" section open to all members once they have made 50 contributions to the boards. This rule is to stop people coming on here just to sell their stuff; we don't know you from Adam, so how do we know that the stuff is cosher?
So what you need to do now is to go to the Introduce yourself bit, then re-word your post a bit and just get used to the abuse on here, it's just banter.
So far as your Disco is concerned, mine is a Landmark too, I'd be tempted to get it all fixed, 100k miles is just out of the running in period. Treated properly, you've got quite a nice bit of Land Rover, even if you have to pay someody to do the work for you.

Many thanks, I moderated a forum myself (not related to land rovers or anything like that, it's a large international site so we get our fair share of spammers and general arseholes).

I guess I'm used to a more civil response, if the post /thread was against the rules surely your moderators could have just removed it and dropped me a PM to draw my attention to the rules.

Its a shame when a forum gets overrun with people who like nothing better than to start petty arguments that neither contribute nor help, I doubt I'm the first new member to be put off by this mob of keyboard warriors, great job on helping the site with your words of wisdom.

As stated I had no intention or even knowledge of selling the vehicle here and find it quite hard to see how any one could of gained that from my post, all I did was post every single fault with the vehicle ..hardly a sales pitch.

Clearly I'll go elsewhere for advice which in itself will make zero difference to anything but a word to those running the site, allowing these type of regressive smart arse posters to basically own the place will slowly drag the site down to their level, and I suspect you wouldnt want that.

Is there anything worse than thinking up a sure fire, beat the rules, they'll never suss this spam post and getting busted within minutes?

Yer supposed to wait fer em to spit their dummies before you lay it on so thick :rulez::rulez:

Next one to pile in with abuse without telling them why will have an ironic eyebrow raised in their direction

no wonder some people don't bother to stick around,i just wonder if anyone would say things like that if it was face to face talk???

I would actually, interested to know how you came about your opinion based on the number 1. The OP deleted the first post after being guided in the ways of the forum. I've now changed mine to reflect this also.
Hope it meets with your approval:)

+1 How much longer will this aggressiveness to newbies be tolerated by the mods?

There is a civil and polite way of asking new comers to post in the intro thread. I agree it's nice and polite to have an introduction, however its not always the required method on other forums. Let's seek to understand before being understood. :)

Take everything with a pinch of salt, give as good as you get, don't touch any raw nerves, most of all have a laugh and don't give a fcuk.

The issue wasn't a lack of introduction and several conversations have been had as a result of this thread. LZ is many things but LRO isn't one of them :p

I agree with blue beasty, if you've spent any time reading the different posts on the site you would realise it's got a style all of its own!
I think I introduced myself when I first joined, but if I didn't I apologise and I'm sure someone will let me know!!
By the way can someone tell me the best tyre size for a D2 with a 2" lift???? ;0)) BoBo

Bobo you did not introduce yourself in the two posts back in 2011 nor this year.

However round black ones I find are best ;)
