I've got a 52 plate disco with sls at the rear, it goes up ok with button on the dash and down ok and levels ok with passengers on board. But when parked up with engine off or running the n/s is about 20mm higher from the floor to the wheel arch than the o/s.
I just had a fair bit of work done and a new mot by an independant L/R specialist and when I asked him he said it was quite common for one side to be different to the other on the disco, is this true or am I being fed a load of crap

Cheers

May be on 15 year disco's with coil springs and a spring has gone soft but not on a D2 with self-levelling suspension. I suspect you have a levelling sensor on one side that is faulty or just simply sticking.

hi, i think it all depends where you park it because the SLS will level to the axles. so if the road or driveway is uneven so will the rear axles. so the rear might be higher on one side than the other i think that right or i could be talking bollox try and park it on level ground and see if it sits level.

Sorry I'm late replying to this thread but I've had other things to sort out.
If it is a faulty sensor or sticking sensor what do they look like and how do i diagnose the problem.

Thanks again

The S/L sensors are mounted on the outside of chassis (one each side)and the unit and consists of an operating arm connected to a small control box which has the ECU cable connected to it via plug. The end of the rod is connected to the axle I think.
I read about the probs and replacing them (their not that strong and exposed) in a LR mag, the rod can also break in half but the units are easy to replace no Testbook etc required .
Sorry but I have a D1 and the bit was interesting at the time but now the info has passed over the top of me.

I sure another D2 owner can explain better.

Regards

There is a proceedure using calibration blocks with Testbook that should be carried out when a height sensor is replaced.

Thanks for the replies folks, the way i feel about the disco at the mo i'll leave it as it is for now

Cheers
