Hi ...
MY 2000 plate Disco has developed a fault where it drops the back suspension down of its own accord on the off side back wheel. I can actively raise and lower the suspension if needed but it is actually dropping below the original level intended.
According to the log book you can only lower the suspension by using a "remote suspension control handset" provided by Landrover, which I dont have.
Any advice much appreciated.
Wayne.

Sounds like a leaking air spring, get the car to normal height then coat the surface of the spring with wd40 or soapy water - look for bubbles, get someone to jump up and down in the car to move the springs if it is not an obvious leak. The springs are about 60-70 quid off the net and about 15 mins to change.Fix it before the air supply unit dies as well.;)

Hi ..
Thanks for the reply.
The frustrating thing is I can't find any obvious sign of leaks and the fault is very intermitant. It has perhaps happened on 4 or 5 occasions in the last fortnight. Very frustrating.

This is how they are,I promise you the leak is there, you just havent found it yet - try putting more weight in the back when you test it.

Just had this problem. The car lowered it self down to the floor, and then the drivers side lowered even more. (I think the electronics try to keep the car level using the spring, hense both sides lower, until a minmum point, at which the leak lowered that side only). Change the air bag straight away or your pump will break. Mine did, it ran almost all the time to try and pump the air bag up. My problem now is that the car is not level, i think it will need calibrating of the height sensors.

These are green in colour and identical to the key fob minus the actual key. I have a spare one, but it has to be coded to your vehicle i believe.

Hello All,

Bit of information for anybody who is interested.......

I got up Sunday morning to find the disco sat on its arse, on closer inspection it was affecting the drivers side more than the passengers.

Shock horror, its done and air bag........Oh **** i thought!!!! Started her up and sure enough she came up to ride height, albeit slowly!!!, turned it off, went to read rave, to see what the airbag was and the connection diagram. Went back to the vehicle 10 mins later, she was down again (nurse....my wipes), thought that this was too rapid to be the bag, out with the washing up liquid, and found nothing leaking from the bag???? Turned it off and listened, could hear a hissing sound????? Found it was the pipe that feeds the top of the air bag, as it goes over the top of the cross member in front of the fuel tank, it had been rubbing and rubbed through to the bore of the pipe, hence rapid deflation!!

Spoke to Land rover, got to buy the whole pneumatic harness, just for the one failing pipe, anywho £25 later, one pneumatic harness. Took out the pipe i needed and put some spiral wrap around the pipe where it had been rubbing to help prevent it happening again, then stripped out the old pipe, and checked the length against the new pipe, and fitted it, spiral wrap and all, put it all back together, and pressurised the system.........hey presto working air suspension........

Have to wait until morning to ensure both the bolts are sufficiently tight and sealing the joint.

Bit ****ed that you have to buy the harness and not just one off pipe, but that is the way I suppose, coupled to the bend over sir pricing plan!!!!

Any who just thought that It would be of some use to those of you that have it and may be experiencing a problem, farily cheap and easy to do fix, if a little fiddly when undoing the bolt on top of the air bag.

Thanks

Dave
