i was looking at getting a new engine in a few months but my series 3 2 1/4 seized up on me last night! is there something i can do about it or is the answer move up the new engine plans!
what would be a simple engine to put into it and what would i need to change to run it? what about costings too?
cheers, from a very unhappy series owner.

who wud want to put a TD4 engine in a series?

how do yu mate a tranny or peugeot lump to a series box?

How did you sieze it up ? run out of water or oil ?
It would be cheapest to fix yours or just get another 2 1/4 you dont say if its a petrol or diesel. Doing a conversion to 200 or 300tdi is going to run you close to 2k for a decent job. JMHO

i dont know, water in the rad and oil in there, it just stopped, got my landy mate to check it out with me and it is definately seized!
just brought another 2 1/4 petrol off ebay so am taking that option. cheers.

HHmmmmmmm..................... before you rip the engine out get a inch and five-eighths socket on a big bar and apply it to the crankshaft pulley bolt.

Try and turn it. make sure she's in neutral and the engine STOP is in place.

With oil and water in it the cause of a "seizure" would be interesting.

I mean, did it really SEIZE or did it just STOP ?

What tests have you done to work out it's seized?

Just trying to save you a lot of bother!

cheers chaps, will try that out failing that i have an engine i brought on the cheap that just needs collecting.
i just cant stand being away from the muddy puddles for too long!

It could be worth taking the head off to have a look. The 2 1/4 petrol is a tough old engine it could be something jammed .The only other engine I would fit would be a 2 1/4 diesel out of a series motor .No moving engine mounts no using adapter plates.
