I have got an engine that has not run for at least 35 years, and it has stuck. Very tight.
OK, I'd best confess right now, it is not a Landrover engine, but a C series BMC out of a '65 Westminster.
I have tried the red diesel down the plugholes treatment, tried a big bar on the pulley but no joy.
Before pulling the head off, can anyone recommend some magic potion they have had success with?
Not coca cola or brake fluid though- tried them before and my teeth fell out.
Seriously, any ideas would be most welcome.

Brake fluid and ATF [or any old power steering fluid] but fear the diesel ought to have done the job by now - still got the Westy or just engine?
 
Sump off, big ends off, head off, whack the pistons out with a mallet from the crown end .. carefully mind .. ;)

Donor car long gone- it was RUSTY!
I tried Brake fluid once on a Cambridge with the same problem. Might be worth a go.
 
Diesel down the bores.... Plug the lowest water outlet and fill the engine with boiling water....
Repeatedly IF needed....

Sounds daft BUT has worked for me before.
 
Another thing is whip the head off and heat some oil (carefully) till its hot and then tip in the bores. The heat should expand things a touch and the oil can penetrate the seized pistons hen you should be able to tap the out.

I once did this on an old stationary engine they was seized that I restored - I originally saw it on salvage squad or something

Gunwash has been suggested- worth a go?

Yup - boiling oil
I saw that Salvage Squad episode too
