What security devices did you have fitted AT THE TIME YOUR LANDY WAS STOLEN?

I'm not special I'm limited edition
Due to some people innability to be able to read this poll has had to be re-done so I can see who is posting on it.

PLEASE VOTE ONLY IF YOUR LANDY HAS BEEN STOLEN

As the number of landys being stolen is on the increase again I thought I'd stick a poll up to find out what devices actually work and what don't. The results can help others keep their landys as safe as possible.

If you have had a landy stolen and post a thread in this section please can you take the time to tick the relevent boxes for what security devices you had both fitted and functional at the time your vehicle was stolen.

Please only vote on this poll if you have actually had a landy stolen. Pleae also be honest in your votes. You can vote for more than one item.

If for example you had a standard alarm and a tracking device then vote for both. If you had no security devices fitted then tick none.

Hopefully if we all pull together we can help keep our vehicles safer in the future.

Nah I meant stick one to the cab roof so that when someone gets in they get snapped ;)

Although I wouldn't put it past that sneaky grizzly :suspicious:

Car parked down a steep drive, security light points at it, but still insufficient disincentive

Can whoever ticked the box in the poll to say that they had a disclock fitted when their landy was nicked pm me please.

Watching this with intrest after a pikey asked me to buy my 90, when I said NO he said they are very easy to steal and exactly how to do it!!!

ratty this information would be extremely interesting as I've stood by what you and others have said about the Disklok being one of the single best devices.

Have we reached that point where the thieving b@stards have found a way round them!

I don't think so.

Two people have already posted the info for security devices they have fitted to their landrover that HASN'T been stolen so that I have had to ammend the poll. Both theses people realised the error of their ways and let me know so that I could ammend the poll results. I have a feeling that this is what's happened again. If the person that clicked disclock hasn't come back to me within the next 7 days I'm going to ammend it as I think it was another one that has been posted by mistake.

Other than a hyab you mean?

Thats good to know.

Yes other than a HiAb there is no defense against that other than parking it fair enough away from the nearest access!

Yep, one of those was me:eek: Read too quickly and thought it was a poll on what you have fitted:doh:

Been reading about microdots and the large roof adhesive letters.

Obviously don't stop them being stolen, but any views on whether worthwhile?

As so few nicked landys are seen again and those that are found need to be positively ID'd before the police will let em get handed back to the owner I rekon the microdotting has to be a good thing. I've often wundered about putting a big blue circle or summit (like the red ones that the police have) on the roof to make it easier to spot.

Another way is to have an underground bunker-drive in with a ceiling so low the HiAb couldn't get the height clearance.

Granted that's no really doable for most of us on here, but a garage with a similar configuration, alarms and an armed owner nearby would soon see the HiAb away with noise ringing in it's ears :)

Just got one of the large roof lettering kits - (look at the Landywatch website for more details, think they get a discount)

Even if taken off the stickers will leave an obvious pattern behind where they've been - until the roof is scrapped or re-sprayed - still - for the cost better than nothing and very easy to see from the over head cameras on the motorways

(Also, not on my series, but, on defenders i've seen it on, its not 100% obvious its there at first.)
